Don't know who "val of solatary" is ... HAL is the super computer thingy from 2001: A Space Oddyssey. Actually I'm not sure exactly what it is, because when I saw that movie it was over a crappy cable connetion and eventually I just saw fuzz + heard dramatic music. I'm assuming something cool happaned.
